The grounds which yield the best catches are submerged seamounts which rise from depths as great as 600 metres up to about 24 metres beneath the surface. One of the most successful fishing sites is about 16 kilometres (8 nautical miles) south east from Luganville, the main town of Espiritu Santo. You can expect Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Dogtooth Tuna and large Yellowfin Tuna.  On the western side of Luganville, the same variety of fish is caught around Araki Island and Pasco Bank in the Bouganville Strait as all these areas have serious tidal flow which lends itself to good fishing.
