Vanuatu Diving

The warm waters of Vanuatu, with their superb visibility, offer world-class diving. There are plunging cliffs, overhangs and grottoes as well as large caves and intricate tunnels teeming with aquatic life to explore. Divers are seduced by the many soft corals, plate corals, sea fans, sponges, and a multitude of curious fish. There are many remote dive sites where you can experience unchartered underwater experiences, while at the same time see something of the culture of the Vanuatuan people.

Vanuatu's top diving destination is the S.S. President Coolidge, one of the largest wreck dives in the world, located on the island of Espiritu Santo. This 22,000 ton luxury passenger liner was converted into troop ship and came to grief when it sunk fully laden close to the shore. With holds packed with war machinery, and guns, helmets, gas masks and personal effects scattered around the promenade deck and bow, the Coolidge is suitable both advanced and novice divers.

There are a range of dive operators in Vanuatu.

Looks like a great day for diving. Watch Tim and Yvonne dive the Coolidge.
